Who We Are
Squirrel Friends is a Peer-to-Peer support group founded by three trans women from South Wales, with the aim to provide a safe and engaging place for anyone within the UK who needs support with their gender identity issues, as well as family members who may be having difficulty understanding their loved one or who just need support themselves. We were later joined by another to become what the members refer to as the Elder Squirrels.
What We Can Offer
We have a Facebook page which will show relevant information about what we have been up to and what events we will be attending, A Facebook group where individuals can ask questions and share stories along with Instagram and Twitter. We offer a much more personal side to support through our Discord server which allows text and video chat as well as various activities that have been laid on such as quizzes, games nights etc. The Discord server is also moderated so that it is a safe space for all who join.

Networking
We at squirrel friends feel it is important to network with other groups so that everyone can get the best support they need. We are constantly looking for like minded groups such as VC gallery, Fighting With Pride and RCT Pride to name just a few. We are particularly interested in working with organisations who specialise in issues outside of Gender.
Future Goals
We are constantly looking to increase the number of individuals we support. We would also like to provide a chaperone service to appointments with gender specialists or other services where someone might just need that little extra support. We would also like to provide face-to-face support for those whose dysphoria requires a more immediate response.
Funding
At present the costs of running the Squirrel Friends is coming out of the founding members' pockets, but as we are expanding, we can not sustain these costs ourselves. As such, we are constantly looking for support with funding, so we can offer the best service. We are looking at starting our own merchandising line to help with costs.
